Position Summary

We are looking for a hands-on, business-minded Financial Analyst to be the day-to-day finance partner to our Trading Cards Category Lead. In this role, you will own key category financials (revenue, margin, SKU performance, operating costs), help build and monitor the P&L, and translate financial results into clear insights and recommendations. You will support annual strategy, budget, and rolling forecasts, and you will help evaluate new products, print runs, and pricing scenarios to enable smart growth of the trading card portfolio.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers and sitting at the table with business partners — product, marketing, studio operations, and global colleagues — to explain what the numbers mean and what to do next.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Business Partnering

  • Serve as the primary financial business partner to the Trading Cards Category Lead, providing timely analysis, scenario modeling, and decision support.
  • Build trust-based relationships with studio, product, sales, and operations stakeholders and proactively surface risks and opportunities.

P&L Ownership and KPI Reporting

  • Analyze, report, and manage key category KPIs (revenue, COGS, gross margin, SKU productivity, operating expenses).
  • Monitor and help optimize the category P&L, including product portfolio mix, print/production economics, and timing of releases.
  • Prepare monthly performance reviews, variance analyses, and commentary for senior leadership.

Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting

  • Coordinate financial planning for the category: annual strategy, budget, and rolling forecasts.
  • Model demand, revenue, and margin scenarios for new products, reprints, and new channels; highlight sensitivities and break-even points.
  • Support headcount and operating expense planning for the studio.

Product, Pricing, and Business Cases

  • Develop business plans, product calculations, pricing proposals, and “what-if” analyses to support commercial decisions.
  • Partner with Sales/Trade Marketing on pricing corridors to protect margin while staying competitive in the TCG space.
  • Evaluate investment and efficiency opportunities and quantify impact.

Process and Reporting Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement of reporting, tools, and financial processes (SAP-BI, Analysis for Office, Excel models).
  • Help standardize dashboards for leadership so they can see category performance at a glance.

Executive Communication

  • Translate complex financial data into clear and compelling presentations for senior executives — what happened, why it happened, and what we recommend next.

This is what you can score highly with

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a Financial Analyst, Commercial/FP&A Analyst, or similar analytical role.
  • Demonstrated experience owning P&L components, preparing accurate budgets/forecasts, and delivering variance analyses.
  • Strong financial modeling skills in Excel; comfortable working with MS Office, SAP-BI, and Analysis for Office (or similar BI tools).
  • Proven ability to turn data into decisions — not just reporting numbers but explaining drivers and recommending actions.
  • Strong analytical skills, precision with numbers, and a high bar for quality (especially important for supporting game/TCG launches).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders.
  • Ability to work independently as a business partner while also collaborating across functions and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in toys, games, consumer goods, or entertainment/licensing environments.
  • Experience supporting a product portfolio (multiple SKUs, multiple drops/releases, or seasonal content).
  • Familiarity with standard costing, margin analysis, and pricing strategy.
  • Experience working in a matrixed / global structure (U.S. subsidiary, German parent) a plus.
  • Additional language skills (German, French) a plus.
